We currently have an opportunity for a Carrier Procurement Representative at our Transportation Management Center i, IL. Successful candidates for this role will be detail oriented and able to work in an environment of change and growth.
Responsibilities of the Transportation Partnership Analyst include:
- Procure carrier services based on lane need and negotiate rate structure that is competitive to DSC Logistics
- Maintain relationships with carrier base and collaborate on continual improvement initiatives
- Negotiate and manage contracts, terms and renewals with DSC’s legal team
- Analyze rate proposals to understand the impacts to profitability to DSC Logistics
- Develop and execute carrier RFP’s as necessary
- Communicate market conditions about supply and demand of capacity and lane rates
- Expand opportunities for regional private fleets to maintain profitability and increase margins
- Manage performance metrics
- Act as the escalation point to resolve service issues from Transportation Operations
- Create and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, DOT regulations and KPI’s
- Resolve operational issues
Candidates selected to interview must meet the following minimum requirements for consideration for this position:
- Bachelors degree with specialization in Logistics, Transportation or Supply Chain Management preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a transportation, brokerage or customer facing role
- Experience in motor carrier negotiation and pricing models, including TL, LTL, Dedicated, Drayage, Ocean, Air and Parcel
- Strong analytical and communication skills with proven ability to work within the framework of the Team. Team concept and Teamwork are essential functions performed daily
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal and disciplined problem solving skills
- Demonstrated competency in MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint). MercuryGate experience a plus
- Ability to assist management with research and development of new techniques and procedures to increase the efficiency of transportation operations
- Provide additional assistance with projects and other items to be assigned periodically
